Artist’s statement:

Recently I have been painting layered, “Dream Gardens“. These came out of a vision I had which combines my many years of painting murals, botanical studies and faux finishing. What developed is a look into multi-dimensional layers of reality. I show one layer, a realistic representation of a garden or landscape and intermingle this with an etheric, transparent layer, which indicates another reality. Sometimes, I use the human form as a symbol of the psyche, and imbed an ‘inner landscape’ within it and /or around it. The human mind can focus on multiple layers of meaning and reality, and this is one thing I like to explore in my work. I also love to create ‘mirrors’ for the soul to show itself more about its purpose and begin to reveal a few mysteries.

I also like to let loose with my painting; it’s very freeing and opens new doors into the other, more surreal work. It’s important for me to let my soul express without a lot of left brain interference, so then come the Rainbow Cats and Dogs and Horses. Nature provides great subjects for my responsive expressionism.
